INVOLVEMENT // Trips / Prayer / Advocacy / Education
We are always looking to extend and develop our team of photographers, artists, journalists, film makers, and other creative expressions of documenting and advocating. This is a diverse range that we are looking for, and due to the style of work and places that we will be traveling to, the teams will not go beyond ten people (where possible). The process of application and/or expression of interest in being involved either short or long term will be viewed, and volunteers screened, at YWAM Perth. It’s not about creating a hierarchy and only accepting the best of the best: it is about upholding integrity and gathering those people we believe have a vision and passion beyond the trip itself. There are many reasons why we go, and on a variety of levels, and not just simply the development of skills. It is, at the heart, so as to bring the hope of Jesus to other nations. The trips are broken down into two core options. The first is the documenting, researching and education process. This is where we develop relationships, gain greater understanding/insight of the particular issue, and capture the stories of those who are oppressed...simply giving them a voice. The second is the follow-up stage, where the finances raised through the exhibition are taken directly to the partnered ministries to provide hands on, practical services for the higher good of those who are or have been oppressed. This is about bringing an holistic approach to the injustice through creating awareness and also providing platforms of involvement. This, in essence, develops constructive and effective change into the future. There are great people out there doing great things, and we want them to know that they haven't been forgotten. We believe that the best way to learn is by experience. This is obviously said in the context of positive and healthy choice, and where we can, it will be encouraged.
